LOCAL LOVE: Origami Asian Grill
Welcome to another edition of Local Love, where we shine a light on some of our favorite Sacramento spots. Tucked between rivers and surrounded by farmland, Sacramento has quietly built a reputation for incredible food, a thriving creative scene, and a laid-back, unpretentious charm. Whether it’s farm-to-fork restaurants, wellness spots, or tucked-away gems that we swear by, there’s always something worth discovering here.
This month’s Local Love goes out to Origami Asian Grill. Origami is definitely my go-to for ramen in Sacramento. I always build mine with the seasonal veggies and smoked tri‑tip, but don’t skip the tangy sunomono pickles or their crispy fried chicken, especially if you’re sharing.
What makes Origami stand out is the customizable experience: choose your broth (I go for pork shoyu unless they’re offering a special), load up on veggies, pick your protein, and suddenly it’s your perfect comfort bowl. They focus on using seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, so every bowl is as fresh as it is flavorful. You can grab a seat or take it to-go. Either way, you’re in for a deliciously satisfying meal.
If you haven’t been yet, do yourself a favor and check it out. This spot’s in heavy rotation for me (and clearly a lot of others, judging by how busy it gets), and for good reason.
